Chelsea and Westminster Hospital
SOUND PANELS
I was approached to work alongside the staff and patients in Chelsea and Westminster’s Acute Assessment Unit.
As part of a pilot scheme to reduce the noise along the extremely busy ward,
CW+ charity is investing in new technologies to create sound-reducing panels to help improve patients' experience
and create a peaceful atmosphere for everyone in the ward.
The brief was to create artwork that would bring a sense of calm and positivity
- a welcome distraction to the bustle and noise of the ward - allowing the mind to wander and escape.
During the process, I engaged with both patients and staff through creative consultations and art workshops. These interactions provided me with an invaluable perspective on the space, allowing me to garner crucial insights for the artwork. This collaborative approach fostered a sense of inclusivity and ensured that the resulting art would resonate with both the individuals utilising the space and the dedicated team providing care.
